On November 3rd, the 2026 Global Investment Promotion Conference for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held in Guangzhou, attracting representatives from 413 companies and business associations across 17 countries and regions. The conference released a new list of 42 representative key projects and worked to accelerate the implementation of signed projects.
Since the inaugural conference in 2022, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have jointly hosted the event for five consecutive years. The first four editions saw 5,718 projects signed, with a combined value of more than 9 trillion yuan. More than 90% of the investment projects signed at those conferences have now started construction, including projects by CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals, the Southern China headquarters of China Resources Microelectronics Limited, Elite Material Co. Ltd., Carlsberg Group, ZF Friedrichshafen and Siemens Healthineers.

Senior executives from multinational companies expressed strong confidence in the Greater Bay Area during the event. Marko Murtonen, Senior Vice President of BASF and General Manager of its Zhanjiang Verbund Site Project, said the project represents a total investment of approximately 8.7 billion euros, BASF's largest single investment to date, and is powered entirely by renewable electricity. He noted that the combination of the Greater Bay Area's strengths in scientific and technological innovation and the advanced chemical manufacturing capacity of the Zhanjiang site is poised to create more opportunities for innovation and collaboration.
Sven Hermann, CEO of ZEISS Vision Care, said the company's Guangzhou manufacturing base in Guangzhou Knowledge City had been selected for the World Economic Forum's Global Lighthouse Network, becoming the first facility in the global optical lens industry to receive this recognition. He said ZEISS would further strengthen local innovation, advanced manufacturing and industrial collaboration, while continuing to advance digital transformation, intelligent manufacturing and green development. Guangzhou and the Greater Bay Area, he added, would remain important strategic regions for ZEISS's continued development in China.
