Cool waters beat summer heat for plump abalones

Capitalizing on its unique marine resources, Huilai's abalone industry continues to scale up. Currently, the county's abalone cultivation area exceeds 5,000 mu, supported by over 170 abalone farming enterprises. It produces 4.4 billion abalone fry annually, capturing over 40% of China's abalone fry market share, alongside more than 3,500 tons of market-sized abalones. In 2025, the sector's total output value reached 2.418 billion yuan, creating jobs for over 30,000 local residents. By adopting industrialized farming to reduce reliance on weather and leveraging industry-university-research collaboration to breed over ten premium varieties, the region has strengthened its industrial foundation through quality water, superior fry, and advanced techniques.

Offshore cages and onshore factories for modern aquaculture

Huilai continues to expand its industrial development space by building an integrated land-sea aquaculture system. Local deployment of gravity-type deep-water net cages delivers typhoon resistance and intelligent water-quality monitoring. Deep-sea farming brings fewer disease outbreaks, yielding abalones with qualities closely resembling those of wild ones. Meanwhile, the Huilai abalone industrial park has refined its value-added processing chain, developing diverse products such as prepared dishes, canned goods, and dried seafood. A cold-chain logistics center with a total investment of 270 million yuan ensures that fresh abalones can be shipped far and wide. Today, Huilai has established a complete industrial chain integrating farming, processing, cold-chainlogistics, and R&D, transforming the humble abalone intoa lucrative "marine treasure" driving growth in the marine economy.

揭阳惠来鲍鱼：“避暑胜地”养出“软黄金”

有“北有大连鲍，南有惠来鲍”的说法。揭阳惠来坐拥优质近海海域，夏季低温洋流过境，水温适宜，是天然鲍鱼“避暑胜地”，完美适配鲍鱼娇贵的生长特性。当地采用科学精细化喂养，搭配优质饵料培育良种，自研绿盘鲍等新品种，生长速度更快、品相更佳。

夏天不“中暑”，好水养出肥美鲍

依托得天独厚的海洋资源，惠来鲍鱼产业规模持续壮大。目前全县鲍鱼养殖面积超5000亩，拥有170余家养殖企业，年产鲍鱼苗44亿粒，占据国内超四成市场份额，年产成品鲍3500多吨，2025年综合产值达24.18亿元，带动三万余名群众就近就业。当地推行工厂化养殖，摆脱“靠天吃饭”模式，同时依托产学研合作，培育十余种优质鲍鱼品种，以好水、好苗、好技术筑牢产业根基。

海上有网箱，岸上有工厂

惠来持续拓宽产业发展空间，打造陆海一体化养殖体系。当地布局深海重力式网箱，可抵御台风、智能监测水质，深海养殖病害更少，鲍鱼品质趋近野生。同时，惠来鲍鱼产业园完善深加工链条，开发预制菜、罐头、干品等多元产品。总投资2.7亿元的冷链物流中心，保障鲍鱼新鲜远销。如今惠来已形成养殖、加工、冷链、研发一体的完整产业链，小小鲍鱼成为助力海洋经济发展的“蓝色黑金”。
