At present, the claim that "globalization is in retreat" has resurfaced, with some countries erecting trade barriers and advocating supply chain decoupling. Yet the Canton Fair remains as vibrant as ever. As of October 19th, more than 100,000 overseas buyers had attended the fair, offering a vivid real-world rebuttal to anti-globalization rhetoric.
01 From "globalization of trade flows" to "globalization of production capacity"
Globalization has long gone beyond exporting finished products. China is shifting from simply exporting goods to supplying components, technology and engineering expertise, helping establish local production lines overseas. At thisyear's Canton Fair, 36.5% of exhibitors have transitioned to a "products + services" model, while nearly one-fifth have invested overseas, creating substantial employment opportunities abroad. By extending their production capabilities to partners, Chinese companies are fostering mutually beneficial outcomes.
02 From "competing for existing demand" to "creating new demand"
In the past, trade was often seen as a contest to capture shares of existing markets. Today, innovation can create new demand. Thisyear's Canton Fair features more than 700 product launches, with many cutting-edge products, including exoskeleton robots, opening up markets that did not previously exist. By leveraging technological innovation to create new markets, China is moving beyond the zero-sum game and injecting fresh momentum into the global economy.
03 From "certainty about market access" to "certainty about future cooperation"
Amid a volatile international trade environment, buyers are placing greater emphasis on flexible supply chains and assurances of long-term cooperation. Nearly 90% of exhibitors at the Canton Fair are repeat participants, continually adapting to new overseas scenarios. China remains committed to upholding the multilateral trading system and building an open world economy. Through stable policies and resilient supply chains, it offers global business partners the certainty needed for long-term cooperation, supporting the sustained development of cross-border trade and economic ties.
