On September 22nd, the 24th China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition (CIMAMotor) concluded. At the Chongqing International Expo Center, tens of thousands of visitors poured into the exhibition halls. The main booth of ZXMOTO was tightly surrounded by crowds of motorcycle enthusiasts amid constant camera flashes, while helmets, leather riding jackets, kneepads and gloves from Guangdong were quietly on display in every corner of the venue.
Behind these vibrant booths lies a complete industrial cluster that Guangdong has refined over decades. In the three cities of Foshan, Dongguan and Shenzhen, upstream and downstream sectors such as textiles, leather, carbon fiber processing and rubber-plastic components are closely interlinked and mutually reinforcing, building a solid foundation for the motorcycle supporting industry.
"Today, the hardware craftsmanship of Guangdong manufacturing is on par with international standards. However, when venturing overseas, we still face a formidable barrier of brand recognition," several heads of Guangdong enterprises admitted to reporters at the event. "No other country can match the strength of China's complete domestic supply chain, but we must face up to the gap. European and American brands have been deeply engaged in the industry for decades, and their understanding of diverse riding scenarios and ergonomics still merits our study," noted Huang Weidong, general manager of SCOYCO.
Clutching a notebook, overseas buyer Mars shuttled between various Guangdong equipment booths, carefully recording the contact information of the companies. In his eyes, "While complete motorcycles define the limits, protective gear such as helmets, kneepads and gloves is in continuous and essential demand in the global market."
The booming popularity of ZXMOTO represents the upward breakthrough of domestic motorcycle manufacturing technology. Meanwhile, outside the spotlight, thousands of Guangdong equipment manufacturing enterprises are quietly fortifying the foundation of the entire industry.
