Many audience members said that the film's subtle and restrained emotions transcended time and space and resonated deeply with them.

Primarily featuring the Chaoshan dialect and centered on the theme of qiaopi (overseas Chinese remittance letters), the film tells the story of the older generation of overseas Chinese who traveled to Southeast Asia to make a living, and highlights the mutual concern and support they shared with their families back home. Some viewers of Chinese descent expressed great fondness for the movie and said that the story moved them to tears. For the Chinese community, the film also holds special significance. As one viewer put it,"For those of us overseas Chinese, it helps us better understand our past and our culture."

However, the film's emotional impact is not limited to the Chinese community. In the past, a family letter had to travel across oceans to reach its destination. Today, people can contact distant loved ones at any time. Although the ways people communicate have changed completely, the film's themes of family, separation, and reunion can still be understood by audiences from different cultural backgrounds. A viewer in New York said that his parents also corresponded via letters when they were young, and the film reminded him of the affection between them. Another viewer from an immigrant family saw the quiet sacrifices of their elders in the story. Andrew, a viewer in Canada, said that even without a Chinese cultural background, he found cross-cultural resonance in the story of people leaving home so their families could have a better life.

《给阿嬷的情书》登陆北美院线，跨越文化引发共鸣

当地时间9月4日，中国电影《给阿嬷的情书》正式登陆北美院线，在美国、加拿大数十座城市超过160家影院上映。不少观众表示，该片细腻内敛的情感跨越了时空，直抵人心。

影片以潮汕方言为主，围绕“侨批”主线，讲述老一辈华侨下南洋谋生时与家乡亲人彼此牵挂、守望相助的故事。有华人观众表示，非常喜欢这部电影，情节让人热泪盈眶。并且对于华人来说，这部电影还有特别的意义：“我们这些旅居海外的华人通过电影，能更好地了解我们的过去和文化。”
