The same wave of intelligent transformation is making its way into medical education. In classrooms at Southern Medical University, clinical medicine students conduct consultation exercises with AI-powered virtual patients, immersing themselves in the full training process from clinical consultation and assessment to diagnosis.

These vivid snapshots offer a glimpse into the evolving landscape of Guangdong's AI industry. In 2025, Guangdong's core AI industry surpassed 300 billion yuan in scale, growing by more than 40% year on year and accounting for about one-quarter of the national total; as of April 2026, 142 large AI models had completed national registration, while more than 430 domain-specific AI models had been deployed across industries, putting Guangdong among the national frontrunners; Guangdong also had 147 "little giant" companies in the AI industry specializing in niche markets and advanced technologies, the largest number nationwide. Behind these figures lies Guangdong's profound transformation, driven by the digital economy, into a global hub for the AI industry.

In April 2026, Guangdong released the "Action Plan of Guangdong Province for Accelerating High-Level Application of Artificial Intelligence Across All Regions, All Sectors and at All Times". The plan focuses on seven major areas under the "AI+" initiative, including scientific research, agriculture and rural areas, traditional industries, emerging industries, services, governance capabilities and people's well-being. It aims to bring AI to a wide range of industries and into people's everyday lives. From a major manufacturing province to a powerhouse of the intelligent economy, Guangdong's AI story is only just beginning.

广东打造AI落地最大“试验场”

在Formnext Asia深圳展的创想三维展台，参观者只需上传一张照片，就能依靠AI快速生成三维模型，3D打印机直接打印出色彩丰富、细节饱满的手办作品；同样的智能化变革走进了医学课堂，在南方医科大学的教室内，临床医学学生和AI虚拟患者开展问诊演练，沉浸式完成问诊、研判、诊断全流程实训。

这些鲜活片段，拼凑出广东人工智能产业的生动底色。2025年，广东人工智能核心产业规模突破3000亿元，同比增长超40%，占全国约四分之一；截至2026年4月，全省142个大模型通过国家备案，430余个垂类行业模型落地生根，位居全国第一方阵；人工智能专精特新“小巨人”企业达147家，数量位居全国第一。这组数字背后，是广东在数字经济浪潮下向全球人工智能产业高地的深刻跃迁。

2026年4月，广东出台《加快推进人工智能全域全时全行业高水平应用行动方案》，围绕“人工智能+”科学研究、农业农村、传统产业、新兴产业、服务业、治理能力、民生福祉等七大方向，推动人工智能赋能千行百业、走进千家万户。从“制造业大省”到“智能经济强省”，广东的AI故事才刚刚开始。
