City Life | In Shipai Community, Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing, the wood-fired bakery Shanshang Xiong’er fills the air daily with the warm aroma of firewood and fresh-baked wheat, attracting crowds of young people who come seeking its signature flavor. Few would have guessed this wildly popular bakery—where tables are always fully booked—would become the “butterfly”that triggered a cultural and tourism revival across the entire community. Sitting right next to the Seven Star Crags, Shipai Community was once an underused neighborhood. Despite its stunning natural landscape, it languished for years due to outdated businesses and a disorganized environment. The turning point came with Guangdong’s “Hundreds, Thousands and Tens of Thousands Project”. The community converted a run-down industrial zone—formerly occupied by auto repair shops and small restaurants—into Leju Creative Park, through the approach of “old factory revitalization + cultural tourism empowerment”. Foot traffic picked up, and the once quiet area has been buzzing with new life. #citylife
