On July 30th, the Global Cross-Border Trade Industrial Cluster Ecosystem Conference held at the Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center featured no speeches by government leaders—from presentation sessions to interactive discussions, the stage and microphones were handed entirely over to entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors across the cross-border trade chain.
Multiple cross-border trade practitioners at the venue noted that establishing the cluster in Nansha was a logical choice driven by multiple factors.
Geographically, Nansha sits at the geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). With a total area of 803 square kilometers, its current land development intensity is only 27%, leaving over 100 square kilometers as strategic space—making it a crucial strategic hub in fostering China's dual-circulation economic pattern.
Policy-wise, the "Nansha Plan" issued by the State Council of the People's Republic of China in 2022 positioned Nansha as a "major strategic platform based in the GBA, collaborating with Hong Kong and Macao, and facing the world," tasking it with pioneering institutional opening-up.
On the market front, strong momentum is equally evident: cross-border e-commerce import and export value in the Nansha Comprehensive Bonded Zone has led the nation for six consecutive years. In the first half of this year, Nansha’s GDP growth hit 11.5%, ranking first in Guangzhou, reflecting an increasingly urgent demand among enterprises for a stronger launchpad for global expansion.

Chong Quan, former Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce, remarked that from the "Nansha Plan" to the "Five-Port Linkage," and on to the global cross-border trade industrial cluster, Nansha is not following a single-dimensional path of policy incentives, but building a premier hub for resource integration. Integrating eight major services built on national-level blockchain and AI foundations marks a fundamental shift for Chinese manufacturing—from "going global with products" to "going global with ecosystems".
