On July 10th, the "Special Exhibition of 'Dear You' Movie Props and Qiaopi Artifacts" officially opened at the Overseas Chinese History Museum of China.

According to the organizers, the exhibition integrates cinematic arts, Chaoshan folk customs, and the history of overseas Chinese in Nanyang (Southeast Asia). It showcases more than 70 movie props and vintage items, alongside nearly 100 museum artifacts—including Qiaopi (overseas remittance letters), intangible cultural heritage pieces, historic documents, and furniture. By creating over a dozen immersive, real-life scenes, the exhibition intertwines cinematic art with a century of overseas Chinese history. It brings to life the stories of millions of early Chinese emigrants who traveled overseas to make a living and sent their love home through Qiaopi, pulling this profound history out of the archives and making the nostalgia that spans mountains and seas palpable.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: Chaoshan, Siam (now Thailand), and Qiaopi, which progressively unfold a century-old panorama of overseas Chinese venturing abroad to make a living while remaining deeply connected to their homeland. The Chaoshan section features memorable original props from the movie, such as a wooden bicycle, classic character costumes, and handwritten letters. Paired with folk artifacts from the museum's collection like Chaozhou embroidery, it introduces visitors to the profound culture of the Chaoshan region and highlights the local people's love for life and pioneering spirit.

The Siam section recreates scenes such as Southeast Asian streets and Chinese literacy classes, vividly portraying the lives of early Chinese immigrants taking root and striving abroad. Listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, a single Qiaopi crossing mountains and seas serves as a genuine witness to the deep attachment of overseas Chinese to their families and devotion to their ancestral homeland. Thousands of miles across rivers and seas do not feel far, for the wanderer's heart is forever drawn homeward; as long as the homeland awaits their return, the heart will always know where it belongs.

The exhibition will run until September 13th.
