On May 10th, the Guangzhou Municipal Statistics Bureau released the Statistical Communiqué of Guangzhou on the 2025 National Economic and Social Development. According to the communiqué, Guangzhou's permanent resident population reached 19.101 million at the end of 2025, an increase of 123,000 from the previous year. This marks the third consecutive year that Guangzhou has recorded an annual increase of more than 100,000 permanent residents, and also the first time the city's permanent resident population has broken the 19 million threshold. At a time when population growth has slowed in most Chinese cities, Guangzhou has maintained robust population momentum driven by strong economic appeal and solid support for people's well-being.

Economic appeal: ample jobs and promising incomes

In 2025, Guangzhou's GDP exceeded 3.2 trillion yuan, growing by 4.0%. Of this total, the added value of the tertiary industry surpassed 2.4 trillion yuan, contributing 89.1% to economic growth, while the advanced manufacturing industry accounted for 58.2% of the total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size. Thriving industries directly contributed to stable employment. Throughout the year, 350,900 new urban jobs were created, while per capita disposable income reached 80,591 yuan. The urban-rural income gap continued to narrow, and consumer vitality in the city remained strong.

Strong support for people's wellbeing: full-cycle investment fostering a sense of belonging for talent

Guangzhou has made substantial financial input to build a childbirth-friendly society. In 2025, expenditure on education reached 66.555 billion yuan, while spending on social security and employment rose by 15.4%. During the year, births among the registered population reached 108,000, with a birth rate of 9.97 per thousand. Meanwhile, the registered population saw a net inflow of 109,800 people, achieving growth in both natural population increase and migration inflow. In addition, Guangzhou is home to 17 national key laboratories, and the number of postgraduate students enrolled exceeded 190,000 in 2025. Full-chain investment from education to scientific and technological innovation is driving the city's transition from demographic dividend to talent dividend.

广州常住人口突破1900万人大关

5月10日，广州市统计局发布《2025年广州市国民经济和社会发展统计公报》。公报显示，2025年末广州常住人口1910.10万人，比上年末增加12.30万人。这已是广州连续第三年每年新增常住人口超过10万人，也是广州常住人口首次突破1900万人大关。在全国多数城市人口增长放缓的背景下，广州凭借“经济吸引力” 与“民生保障力”，实现了“人气爆棚”。

经济吸引力：就业有岗位，收入有奔头

2025年，广州GDP突破3.2万亿元，增长4.0%。其中第三产业增加值超2.4万亿元，对经济增长的贡献率高达89.1%；先进制造业占规上工业比重达58.2%。产业兴旺直接带动了就业稳定。全年城镇新增就业35.09万人，居民人均可支配收入达到80591元，城乡差距持续缩小，城市消费活力旺盛。

民生保障力：投资于全生命周期，让人才有归属

广州以真金白银构建生育友好型社会：2025年教育支出665.55亿元，社会保障与就业支出增长15.4%。全年户籍出生人口10.80万人，出生率9.97‰；户籍人口机械增长10.98万人，实现了“内外双增”的双赢。此外，广州拥有全国重点实验室17家，2025年在学研究生超19万人，从教育到科创的全链条投入，正推动城市从“人口规模”迈向“人才红利”。
