Dinghushan to Green Guangdong: 70 Years Setting the Standard for Nature Conservation in China
Lingnan: Beauty Beyond Borders | The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of China’s nature reserve system. Dinghushan National Nature Reserve, home to one of the world’s best-preserved evergreen broad-leaved forests along the Tropic of Cancer, became China’s first nature reserve in 1956, marking the beginning of modern nature conservation in China. Over the past 70 years, Dinghushan has preserved one of the country’s most complete subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest ecosystems, with 1,948 species of wild plants recorded. Today, the reserve is advancing smart conservation initiatives and working with South China National Botanical Garden to build an integrated in-situ and ex-situ conservation system, enhancing rare species monitoring, ecosystem research, and public science education. #SplendidLingnan
