Amid the current stalemate in the U.S. military operations against Iran, Donald Trump's narrative of "winnism" may once again be running into hard reality. Recently, Yangcheng Evening News interviewed renowned international affairs commentator Yang Sheng. Responding to Western media hype that the true winner of the Iran war is China, Yang stated that there are no winners in this war and China is just trying to fix this fragile world.

Yang Sheng described Trump's situation as "having a tiger by the tail." He noted that while the Trump administration's decapitation strategy of strikes against Iran's leadership may have produced short-term strategic deterrence against certain countries, the long-term costs to the United States have been substantial.

"First, the United States has lost credibility," Yang pointed out. Launching a military attack during ongoing negotiations with Iran amounts to deception in the eyes of the international community. In the future, when other countries encounter disputes with the U.S., it will be difficult for them to place basic trust in the United States at the negotiating table.

Second, there have been tangible losses in military assets. Yang cited specific data: "multiple U.S. military bases in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq have been damaged by missiles and drones; some embassy facilities serving as intelligence outposts for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) have been destroyed; U.S. military personnel have suffered casualties, and military equipment losses have been severe, including fighter jets, refueling aircraft, and aircraft carriers."

The operation has also shaken the image of the United States as a global power. According to Yang, the perceived inability of the U.S. military to maintain control in the Strait of Hormuz has shattered its myth of invincibility. More awkwardly, when Trump requested naval support from key allies such as the United Kingdom and Japan, he was met with refusal. Yang believes that the current situation has aroused doubts among the U.S. allies about how the U.S. military will face stronger adversaries in the future.

Recently, some Western public opinion has suggested that "China has emerged as the biggest winner of the war." In response, Yang said: "although China has benefited from its own new energy development and reduced dependence on oil and gas, it still faces inflationary pressures driven by rising oil and gas prices, as well as uncertainties caused by the conflict. Some people in the West hype up China-U.S. confrontation, believing that American mistakes equal Chinese victories, but this is not how we view major-country relations. We believe that China and the United States can still be cooperative partners. However, if the United States insists on provoking us, we have the confidence and ability to respond—for example, China has successfully handled the 'tariff war' initiated by the United States."

"The reality is that the United States continues to make mistakes and generate instability, while China has consistently provided the world with certainty and stability. Ultimately, the international community will decide which major country is truly reliable," Yang concluded.
