The final stage of the 32nd Wu Yang Cup Xiangqi Tournament kicked off at Guangzhou Cultural Park on the evening of February 25th, drawing large crowds to the illuminated venue. The tournament will run until March 1st. As the earliest established, highest-standard, and most influential event in Chinese Xiangqi (Chinese chess), the Wu Yang Cup has been hailed as the sport's flagship tournament in China since its inception in Guangzhou in 1981.

The tournament features a strong lineup of competitors and intense competition. The open division adopts a "double round-robin group stage plus knockout" format, where 16 players compete in groups before advancing to elimination rounds, with the champion determined through two-game matches and blitz tiebreaks. The masters division employs a six-player round-robin system, with rankings decided by points.
Alongside the top-tier Xiangqi tournament, the "Chess in Guangzhou: Intangible Cultural Heritage and Flavors Carnival" will run until March 3rd. During the finals, the organizers have curated a special carnival program that invites visitors to explore the rich intangible cultural heritage of Guangzhou's Liwan District and savor delicacies of its time-honored brands.
