Guangzhou has planned more than 2,000 cultural and tourism activities for the Chinese New Year in 2026, featuring a diverse lineup across four major categories: special activities, scenic spot events, cultural and artistic performances, and cultural and museum exhibitions.
The 2026 Guangzhou Bai'etan Chinese New Year Fireworks Show will be held on February 17th (the first day of the Chinese New Year) at 8:00 p.m. over the waters of Bai'etan. The display will feature more than 150,000 fireworks across high-, medium-, and low-altitude launches, with multiple visual sequences such as "abundant harvests" making their debut in China.

On the evening of February 10th, the Greater Bay Area Lantern Carnival, themed "Bay Unity, Splendor Through the Ages", kicked off at Nansha Tianhou Temple in Guangzhou and will run until May 10th, lasting 90 days in total. Eight major urban parks will jointly stage Guangzhou's 2026 Spring Festival Lantern Festival themed "Cantonese Rhymes Through Millennia, Global Unity in Heart", offering residents and visitors a quintessential Lingnan-style lighting spectacle.
Major scenic attractions across Guangzhou are also rolling out coordinated activities. On February 10th, Chimelong Safari Park in Guangzhou opened its brand-new themed exhibition area, Shenma Park (literally Horse Park), to the public. The 2026 Chinese New Year Lingnan Lion Dance Folk Culture Festival at Baomo Garden scenic area in Panyu district will present a series of folk cultural performances. Meanwhile, themed events such as the "Tang Dynasty Lantern Festival" at Grandview Mall and the large-scale Chinese-style immersive live show "Dreaming Back to Lingnan" at Sunac Land add a strong cultural vibe to the Chinese New Year.

Major museums across Guangzhou have launched a range of themed exhibitions. These include the Guangdong Museum's "Shared Prosperity: A Millennium of Guangdong's Foreign Trade" exhibition, the Nanyue King Museum's"A Gift of the Nile: Ancient Egyptian Artifacts and Digital Art Experience Exhibition", the Guangdong Museum of Art's "So Long, So Profound: Huang Yongyu's New Paintings" exhibition, the Guangzhou Maritime Museum's exhibition themed on various music cultures along ancient Silk Road, and Xuelei Fragrance Museum's "World Fragrance" exhibition, showcasing the integration of Lingnan culture with diverse civilizations.
