From January 27th to 28th, 2026, the 2026 Greater Bay Area Lantern Carnival Promotion Conference was held in Hong Kong and Macao. During the event, the Fok Ying Tung Group and Guangzhou Nansha Assets Operation Group Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement on site.

The carnival will be held from February 10th (Little New Year in the Chinese lunar calendar) to May 10th, 2026, at the Tianhou Palace Scenic Area and the Coastal Park in Nansha, Guangzhou. Spanning 90 days, the carnival will cover major holidays including the Chinese New Year, Lantern Festival, Valentine's Day, International Women's Day and the May Day holiday. Featuring five themed exhibition zones, the carnival will present hundreds of large-scale lantern installations, nearly 1,000 performance events and tens of thousands of exquisite lanterns, offering residents and visitors an upgraded cultural feast and warmly inviting visitors from Hong Kong and Macao to join this spectacular celebration of light and shadow.

The lantern installations are designed to blend cultural depth with contemporary vitality. At the main entrance, majestic horses and the city flowers representing the 11 cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) are used as design elements to convey wishes for a brighter future. Other lantern installations, centered on the mascots of the 15th National Games, "Xiyangyang" and "Lerongrong", together with iconic landmarks of the GBA cities, will showcase the grand scene of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao jointly hosting the National Games, creating synergy between Lingnan culture and sporting spirit.

In terms of performances, the carnival will partner with major cultural IPs such as the Chinese New Year Gala of the Pearl River Channel of Guangdong Radio and Television Station to create an immersive Cantonese-language Chinese New Year Gala. The program will incorporate signature programs from Hong Kong and Macao and feature well-known artists from the two regions, highlighting the shared cultural roots of the three places. During key festive periods, large-scale parades, intangible cultural heritage folk art performances and drone formation shows will also be staged to showcase the distinctive charm of Lingnan culture.
