Recently, a netizen posted online to express thanks to the Beizhan Community Service Center in Minzhi Subdistrict, Longhua District, Shenzhen, for running a 24-hour library. The post said that while transferring at Shenzhen North Railway Station, the library provided a place to rest and recharge, and recommended the center's thoughtful public services to others.
According to the Yangcheng Evening News, a staff member from the center said that since the center was put into operation in 2017, it has operated a 24-hour library primarily to provide residents with a place to study and prepare for exams. The staff member added that tourists are not encouraged to stay for extended periods. For passengers making short transfers, the center also offers luggage storage. Care cabinets have been set up outside the library, stocked with items such as bread, instant noodles and eight-treasure porridge, with each person allowed to pick up free food once by scanning a QR code. The center also provides referral and support services for residents seeking jobs or facing other difficulties.
