On January 7th, Professor Wenlin Wang, the Director of the Institute of Chest Wall Surgery of Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, successfully performed two highly complex chest wall deformity correction surgeries at Pakistan's largest hospital, the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. The procedures used several core techniques independently developed by Professor Wang, including the Wenlin procedure, the Wung procedure and the Wang procedure.

Both patients were adolescents who had long suffered from the physical and psychological distress caused by their chest wall deformities. The first patient, a 14-year-old with a complex chest wall deformity, presented with severe anterior chest wall protrusion with bilateral depressions inferiorly. The condition had caused severe low self-esteem and breathing difficulties that began two years ago. Professor Wang's team adopted an innovative combination of the Wenlin procedure and the Wung procedure, completing the correction in just one hour. After surgery, the chest wall deformity was completely resolved.

The second patient, aged 17, suffered from severe asymmetric pectus excavatum that had manifested in early childhood. Five years ago, worsening deformity led to breathing difficulties, yet effective treatment had been delayed due to limited local medical resources. After one and a half hours, the procedure was completed successfully. The patient's chest shape was restored to normal, and the breathing difficulties are expected to be fully resolved.

This visit to Pakistan for medical exchange stemmed from the formal invitation from the Head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. As the country's largest medical institution, the center had never carried out such highly complex chest wall deformity correction surgeries, leaving the field of chest wall surgery locally underdeveloped. Professor Wang noted that his team will systematically share its most advanced chest wall correction techniques with local specialists, helping Pakistan establish a comprehensive chest wall diagnosis and treatment system.

广东医生在巴基斯坦最大医院完成两台高难度胸壁矫正手术

1月7日，广东省第二人民医院胸壁外科研究所所长王文林教授，在巴基斯坦全国最大医院——真纳研究生医学中心（Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center），成功完成两台高难度胸壁畸形矫正手术。术中采用的Wenlin手术、Wung手术、Wang手术等核心技术均为王文林教授独创。

据悉，此次手术的两位患者均为青少年，长期承受着胸壁畸形带来的生理与心理双重痛苦。第一位是14岁的复合型胸壁畸形患者，前胸壁重度凸起且下方两侧凹陷，不仅让他极度自卑，两年前还出现了呼吸不适的症状。王文林教授团队创新性地联合采用Wenlin手术与Wung手术两种核心技术，仅用1小时便完成矫正，术后患者胸壁畸形彻底消失。

第二位17岁患者则患有重度不对称漏斗胸畸形，自幼发病，五年前因畸形加重出现呼吸不适，同样因当地医疗条件限制迟迟未能得到有效治疗。历时1小时30分钟，手术圆满成功，患者胸廓形态恢复正常，呼吸不畅的困扰有望彻底解决。

此次巴基斯坦之行，源于真纳研究生医学中心胸外科主任的正式邀请。作为巴基斯坦规模最大的医疗机构，该中心此前从未开展过此类高难度胸壁畸形矫正手术，当地胸壁外科领域长期处于空白状态。王文林教授表示，团队将把最核心的胸壁矫正技术系统传授给当地专家，助力巴基斯坦建立起胸壁外科诊疗体系。
