The official opening of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway has not only shortened travel time between western Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, but also sped up the supply of South China Sea seafood. Typified by Guandu oysters in Zhanjiang, the local economy has built a hundred-billion-yuan-level fishery industrial chain that integrates aquaculture, processing, and sales. The output value for its three flagship products—oysters, golden pompano, and shrimp—has each exceeded ten billion yuan.

Guangdong's marine economy continues to lead the nation in overall strength. In 2024, the province's gross ocean product topped 2 trillion yuan, ranking first nationwide for 30 consecutive years. Notably, deep-water net cage aquaculture has made solid gains. More than 7,400 gravity-type net cages have been built in total, the most in China, and the aquaculture water volume has risen nearly fivefold compared with the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

From Zhanjiang's "marine ranches" to Yangjiang's offshore wind turbines, and on to Guangzhou's shipbuilding, Guangdong's coastal cities are stepping up marine-oriented development. The province has formed a development pattern led by Guangzhou and Shenzhen, with key support from cities including Dongguan and Zhanjiang. Together, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen "dual core" pattern generates more than one trillion yuan in marine economic output.

Guangdong is now home to over 100 marine-related laboratories and engineering technology research centers at or above the provincial level, as well as more than 80,000 marine-related enterprises. Together, they form the main force in fostering new quality productive forces in the marine sector, delivering breakthroughs in core and key generic technologies in areas such as natural gas hydrates, deep-sea science, and marine ecology.

从一只生蚝，看见广东的“蓝色家底”

广湛高铁的正式通车，不仅拉近了粤西与大湾区的时空距离，更加速了南海鲜味的流通。以湛江官渡生蚝为代表，当地已形成集养殖、加工、销售于一体的千亿级渔业产业链，生蚝、金鲳鱼、对虾三大品种产值均破百亿。

广东海洋经济实力持续领跑全国。2024年，全省海洋生产总值超2万亿元，连续30年居全国首位。其中，深水网箱建设成果显著，累计建成重力式网箱超7400个，数量全国第一，养殖水体比“十三五”末增长近5倍。

从湛江的“钢铁牧场”到阳江的“海上风车”，再到广州的船舶制造，广东沿海城市正加速向海图强。全省形成了以广深为核心引领，东莞、湛江等为重点支撑的发展格局，其中广深“双核”海洋经济总量超万亿。

目前，广东拥有超过100个省级以上涉海实验室及工程技术研究中心和8万多家涉海企业，它们共同组成海洋新质生产力培育的主力军，在天然气水合物、深远海科学、海洋生态等领域突破一批核心技术和关键共性技术。
