Starting the morning with dim sum in Guangzhou, selecting fresh seafood at Zhanjiang's markets by noon, or heading straight to Maoming's lychee orchards and Yangjiang's Silver Beach—all these trips will soon be possible within a single day. The Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, scheduled to open by late December, will redefine travel across western Guangdong. With its launch, the shortest journey time from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang will be reduced from over three hours to about 1.5 hours, officially integrating western Guangdong into the Greater Bay Area's "90-minute living circle."

At 9:00 AM on December 10th, the trial train G5212 departed punctually from Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station. The sleek Fuxing Hao train glided onto the track and swiftly accelerated toward western Guangdong. The train is equipped with smart temperature-control systems, USB charging ports, barrier-free facilities, and an upgraded  air-conditioning and ventilation system to improve passenger comfort.

During its run through Wuchuan, the train reached its designed speed of 350 km/h. A reporter placed a cup of water on the tray table—the surface barely rippled. Even walking down the aisle required no special effort to keep balance, demonstrating the train's remarkably smooth and stable performance.

In addition, the dining car introduces several affordable, locally inspired dishes: spicy chicken casserole bursting with flavor, and sweet and sour pork with pineapple, made largely with ingredients sourced from Zhanjiang—both authentic and budget-friendly.

Construction of the line faced numerous challenges: bridges and tunnels account for 76.8 % of its length, with 190 bridges and 50 tunnels along the main line. The railway passes through complex geological zones and densely built-up urban areas. The Zhanjiang Bay Undersea Tunnel, the project's most critical section, set multiple industry records for design and construction complexity.

广湛高铁开通在即，广州至湛江车程将缩短至1.5小时

早晨在广州喝早茶，正午到湛江的海鲜市场挑选生猛海味，或是直奔茂名的荔枝园采摘鲜果、到阳江的银滩探寻海滨乐趣……预计12月底开通运营的广湛高铁，将刷新粤西漫游图景。广州到湛江的最短通行时间将从原来的3小时以上缩至1.5小时左右，粤西地区正式融入大湾区“90分钟生活圈”。

10日9时整，G5212次试运行列车从广州白云站准时出发，流线型的复兴号车身在轨道上缓缓启动，随即加速驶向粤西。列车不仅配备了智能温控系统、USB充电接口、无障碍设施等基础便民设备，还优化了空调通风系统。

在吴川段运行过程中，列车最高时速达到设计标准的350公里，记者将水杯置于小桌板上，水面仅泛起细微涟漪，即便行走在过道上也无需刻意保持平衡，平稳性超预期。

此外，列车餐车推出多款兼具性价比与地方特色的餐食，黄焖鸡鲜香浓郁、菠萝咕噜肉酸甜可口，食材多源自湛江本地物产，既实惠又地道。

线路建设面临多重挑战，全线桥隧比高达76.8%，正线桥梁190座、隧道50座，需穿越复杂地质条件和密集城市建成区。其中，湛江湾海底隧道作为全线控制性工程，更是创造了多项行业纪录。
