Earlier this year, Aishath Nadhira, a nurse at Hulhumalé Hospital in the Maldives, spent three months in training at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC) of Sun Yat-sen University. She said that she was grateful for this precious learning opportunity and found everything at ZOC was so fresh and new. After receiving her certificate of completion, she returned home together with Maldivian doctor Nafeesa Abdul Latheef, who was trained with her.

Aishath is a senior registered nurse with a master's degree in nursing and ten years of clinical nursing experience. During her stay in Guangzhou, she found everything fresh and new. She recalled that the nurses at ZOC are highly competent. She often asked for more hands-on practice so that she could apply what she was learning right away.

Xiao Ling, a nurse in charge of the Cornea Department at ZOC, said that Aishath picked things up very quickly. For procedures such as meibomian gland massage, eyelid biofilm removal, lacrimal duct irrigation, and non-contact tonometry (NCT), Aishath quickly got the hang of them and was soon able to perform the procedures on her own.

Aishath said that at ZOC, she was fortunate to be able to observe differenttreatment methods and carry out various nursing procedures on patients herself to learn many new techniques. She said that she would take these hands-on skills back to the Maldives and share them with her colleagues, which she believed would greatly benefit patients.

“感谢这次宝贵的学习机会，这里的一切都很新鲜！”今年上半年，马尔代夫胡鲁马累医院（Hulhumalé Hospital）护士Aishath Nadhira在中山大学中山眼科中心进行了为期三个月的培训。取得结业证书后，她和一同培训的马尔代夫医生Nafeesa Abdul Latheef一起回到家乡。

Aishath是一名高级注册护士，拥有护理学硕士学位以及十年的护士工作经验。在广州的这段时间，她感觉一切都很新鲜。“这里的护士非常称职。我会主动请求练习，这样我学到知识的同时还能付诸实践。”

中山眼科中心角膜科主管护理师肖玲告诉记者，Aishath上手很快，例如睑板腺按摩、眼睑生物膜清除、泪道冲洗、测NCT（非接触式眼压测量法），她都有了一定的了解，甚至可以直接上手自己做了。

Aishath表示，在中山眼科中心，自己有幸可以观摩到不同的治疗手段，并且有机会可以对患者进行各类护理操作实践，能够学到很多新的技术。“我会将这些实操技能带回马尔代夫，分享给我的同事们，这将极大惠及患者。”
