At the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) set to open on December 8th, a series of headline-making innovations will be showcased, including the smart stair-climbing electric wheelchair, smart bionic hand, mind-controlled wheelchair, exoskeleton rehabilitation robot, and AI-powered smart vision glasses for the visually impaired. In addition to these technologies, the smart standing wheelchair with integrated health monitoring will support athletes across multiple events, enabling seamless switching between sitting, semi-reclining, and upright postures.

At the 15th National Games, the extensive use of new materials highlighted Guangdong's leading industrial strength. These included the micro-nano passive radiative cooling paint developed by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for volunteer service stations of the Games, and the award podiums in the Zhaoqing competition zone made of bamboo-plastic composite boards, a mixture of 60% Guangning bamboo fiber and recycled plastics. The material requires no adhesives, is moisture-resistant and durable, and can be fully recycled after the Games, making it an eco-friendly solution.

In addition, Guangdong has ranked first nationwide in the number of high-tech enterprises for nine consecutive years. The technological strengths of companies such as Huawei, China Southern Power Grid(CSG), and China's three major telecom operators in 5G-A, AI, and the Internet of Things have been rapidly transformed into smart services for sports events. Examples include CSG's integrated aerial-ground-tunnel unmanned inspection system and China Mobile Guangdong's "sports + metaverse" 3D virtual space. These applications demonstrate the deep integration of next-generation information technologies with sports technology.

The dazzling technological presence at this year's Games stems from Guangdong's strong innovation capacity, which has ranked first in China for nine consecutive years. It showcases the robust strength of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou innovation cluster, the world's top innovation hub, and highlights the strong momentum of coordinated innovation and shared progress across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
