On September 8th, the Nansha district of Guangzhou was recognized as part of the CitiesWithNature, a unique initiative that recognizes and enhances the value of nature in and around cities across the world, becoming another internationally acknowledged area in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). So far, two cities (Shenzhen and Guangzhou) and two districts (Nansha and Yuexiu) in the GBA have been included in the initiative.

Nansha district has won multiple accolades for ecological development. In 2011, it received the Gold Award of the Liveable Communities Awardsendorsed by the United Nations, and in 2019, it was shortlisted as one of China's happiest places. As Guangzhou's only coastal district, Nansha integrates mountains, urban areas, farmland, rivers, and the sea within its 803 square kilometers, continuously advancing green development.

With more than 300 square kilometers of sea area and 195.13 kilometers of coastline, Nansha serves as an important ecological barrier in the GBA and has continued to strengthen coastal wetland protection. Along the Jiaomen River, a two-year ecological restoration project has transformed once barren mudflats into a wetland space featuring mangroves and greenery. The project restored about 4 hectares of wetland and created 2.5 hectares of mangrove forest.

According to statistics, the green space ratio in Nansha's built-up area has reached 38.74%, with a green coverage rate of 40.36%, and a per capita park green space of 22.75 square meters.

The Nansha International Cruise Home Port has so far opened seven routes covering Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, and other destinations, with 28 voyages operated and more than 140,000 inbound and outbound passengers received.

广州南沙入选全球“自然城市”

广州南沙区于9月8日入选全球“自然城市”平台，成为粤港澳大湾区内又一获此国际认定的区域，截至目前，粤港澳大湾区已有深圳、广州两个城市以及南沙区、越秀区两个城区入选该平台。

南沙区生态建设屡获殊荣，曾于2011年获联合国“全球最适宜居住城区奖”金奖，2019年被评为“中国最具幸福感城市”。作为广州市唯一滨海城区，南沙在803平方公里的区域内融合山、城、田、江、海等多类生态要素，持续推进绿色发展。

南沙拥有超过300平方公里海域和195.13公里海岸线，作为大湾区重要生态屏障，持续强化滨海湿地保护。南沙区蕉门河沿岸经过两年生态修复，从原有荒芜滩涂转变为涵盖红树林和景观植被的湿地空间。该项目修复湿地约4公顷，营造红树林2.5公顷。

数据显示，当前南沙建成区绿地率达38.74%，绿化覆盖率40.36%，人均公园绿地面积22.75平方米。

南沙国际邮轮母港目前已开通7条航线，涵盖中国香港、日本、越南等地，累计运营28个航次，接待出入境游客超14万人次。
