On July 30th, a friendship match between the US Southern California Chinese American Youth Water Polo Team and the Guangzhou Youth Water Polo Team was held at the swimming and diving halls at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Center. The Chinese team from Guangzhou and the team fromSouthern California delivered an exciting game. After the match, the two teams exchanged signed water polo balls as a gesture of friendship.

"We're very grateful for the opportunity to come to Guangzhou and play in this fantastic match. We'd love to come back again," said Enzo Bryden, a member of the U.S. Southern California ChineseAmerican Youth Water Polo Team. He noted that in the US, they don't really exchange gifts after every single match, but here in Guangzhou, he came to understand the value of it— a lasting memory of the friendship match.

Adam Hewko, coach of the US water polo team, said water polo is a very popular sport in California. "We warmly welcome the Guangzhou team to come to Los Angeles for another friendship match. We'd be happy to host you," he said.

Guangzhou and Los Angeles officially became sister cities in 1981. Over the past four decades, the two cities have maintained close exchanges and cooperation across various fields, including sports. Los Angeles has hosted the Olympic Games twice and will host the Summer Olympics again in 2028. In November 2025, Guangzhou will host the National Games for the third time, and the water polo competition of the 15th National Games will take place at the same venue as this friendship match.

一颗水球、两种语言，中美青少年同心向体育

7月30日，一场中美（广州-洛杉矶）青少年水球友谊赛在广东奥林匹克体育中心游泳跳水馆举行，美国南加州华裔青少年水球联队与广州青少年水球队共同带来了一场精彩的比赛。赛后，两支球队互相交换了水球。水球上，球员们都签下了自己的名字。

“非常感谢能有机会来到广州参加这场精彩的友谊赛，我们非常愿意再来广州。”美国南加州华裔青少年水球联队的球员Enzo Bryden表示，之前在美国比赛时，队伍之间并不会在赛后交换礼物，但是在这里，他看到了“交换”承载的意义——对这次友谊赛的纪念。

美国南加州华裔青少年水球联队的教练Adam Hewko说，在加州，水球是非常受欢迎的一项运动，“我们非常欢迎广州的队伍能来到洛杉矶，再来一场友谊赛，我们很乐意做东道主。”

1981年，广州与洛杉矶正式缔结为友好城市，40多年来两市在多个领域保持密切交流与合作，其中也包括体育。洛杉矶曾两度举办奥运会，并将于2028年再次举办夏季奥运会。今年11月，广州将第三次举办全运会赛事，十五运会的水球项目将在此次友谊赛的场馆举行。
