On July 10th, the "Botero in Guangzhou" exhibition officially opened, jointly organized by the Guangdong Museum of Art and the Fernando Botero Foundation. This exhibition is a significant presentation of Botero's works in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, featuring over 80 iconic pieces from his artistic career. The collection includes oil paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, offering a multifaceted exploration of the visual spectacle created by this world-renowned master artist.

Fernando Botero's creations are known for their vibrant, voluminous forms, saturated colors, and profound narratives, setting him apart as a unique figure in contemporary art. His style, known as "Boterismo," has not only reshaped the perception of bodily beauty but also become a dazzling symbol of Colombian and broader Latin American cultural identity on the global art stage.

"I don't paint fat people. I want to express the beauty and plasticity brought by volume through realistic themes. Art is deformed and exaggerated, which has nothing to do with fat people," Botero once stated in a documentary. He emphasized that, in art, as long as you have ideas and think, you are bound to deform nature. Art is deformation.

“胖”也是美！哥伦比亚国宝级画家费尔南多·博特罗大展亮相广州白鹅潭

7月10日，由广东美术馆与费尔南多·博特罗基金会联合主办的“哥伦比亚狂想——博特罗艺术大展”正式启幕。该展览是博特罗作品在粤港澳大湾区的重要呈现，汇集其艺术生涯中极具代表性的80余件作品，涵盖油画、雕塑和纸本等媒介，多角度呈现这位世界级艺术大师打造的视觉奇观。

费尔南多·博特罗的创作因充满生命力的丰腴体积、饱和的色彩与深邃的叙事而独树一帜，形成了以他的姓氏命名的“博特罗风格”（Boterismo），不仅重塑了大众对形体美的感知，更成为哥伦比亚乃至整个拉丁美洲文化身份在世界艺坛的耀眼象征。
“我画的不是胖子，而是想通过现实题材来表达一种体积带来的美感。艺术是变形和夸大的，跟胖子没有关系。”博特罗曾在纪录片中指出，在艺术创作的过程中，只要拥有足够的想象力和想法，就必定会改变自然界的本来面貌，艺术创作就意味着变形。
