In the Shenzhen Yantian Port area, Lin Risheng, the duty manager from the operations service and development department of the Hutchison Ports YANTIAN, has been extremely busy these days. He has been frequently communicating with crane operators, and his voice was slightly hoarse.
Following the release of the "Joint Statement on US-China Economic and Trade Meeting in Geneva" on May 12th, American buyers swiftly acted and rushed to stock goods. There is a significant demand for "Made in China" products from the United States, keeping the staff at the Shenzhen ports very busy in recent days.
On May 13th, reporters visited the Yantian Port area and found the "MSC Katrina" loading at the berth. Lin Risheng informed the reporters that the cargo ship would handle over 2,000 containers at Yantian Port and then set sail for ports in New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, and other American ports.
"In the past two days, we've received inquiries from multiple shipping companies, urgently coordinating berth schedules and adjusting dispatch plans to swiftly redeploy vessels from other routes to dock at Yantian. This is in response to the surge in shipping demand driven by the positive developments. Market feedback indicates that major customers on the US trade routes have resumed shipments and accelerated bookings. Over the past two days, the number of export containers arriving at the terminal has significantly increased, and we anticipate that exports to the US will continue to heat up," said an on-site staff member.
In the first four months of this year, Shenzhen's Yantian Port added 6 new routes, connecting various ports in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The port area boasts a comprehensive global route network, with nearly a hundred routes reaching worldwide each week. It is also the most densely connected port area for the US in South China, with an average of 6 departures to the US per day and over ten cross-border e-commerce shipping lines. On May 14th, international cargo ships departing from Yantian Port to the US were all fully loaded.
Industry analysts pointed out that the high tariff policy previously implemented by the US caused many shipping companies to reduce calls to Chinese ports, with some redirecting ships to Southeast Asia and European routes, resulting in relatively tight shipping capacity to the US. This is expected to lead to many sellers shipping in large quantities. The earlier limited space availability will likely result in a surge in demand for space from sellers, coupled with Amazon's Prime Day in July, potentially triggering a "shipping rush."
Yantian Port is located on the northern shore of Dapeng Bay in the eastern part of Shenzhen, being one of the world's largest single-container terminals and a preferred port for ultra-large vessels globally. As a crucial node in the global production and supply chain, the Yantian Port area in Shenzhen handles over one-third of Guangdong province's foreign trade imports and exports and more than a quarter of the country's exports to the US.

“目前,我们平均每天有6班船开往美国,现在调度很忙,很多船要挂靠盐田港。今天,我的对讲机都用掉两块电池了!”在深圳盐田港区,盐田国际集装箱码头操作服务及发展部当值经理林日生这两天忙得热火朝天,频繁与桥吊司机沟通,声音有些沙哑。
《中美日内瓦经贸会谈联合声明》5月12日发布后,美国采购商迅速行动,抓紧囤货。美国对“中国制造”的需求较大,深圳港口的工作人员最近几天很忙。
5月13日,记者赴盐田港区采访,正逢“地中海卡特里娜”号在泊位上装货。林日生告诉记者,该货轮在盐田港操作超过2000个集装箱,随后将驶向纽约、巴尔的摩、诺福克等美国港口。
“这两天我们陆续收到多家船公司咨询,紧急协调泊位停靠及调整调度计划,尽快调配其他航线的船舶挂靠盐田,以应对利好消息出台后带来的火爆出货预期。市场反馈美线的主要客户已经恢复出货,加快订舱,这两天交到码头的出口集装箱越来越多,相信接下来对美出口会持续升温。”现场工作人员说。
今年前4个月,深圳盐田港新增航线6条,连接欧洲、美洲及亚洲多个港口。该港区拥有覆盖全球的完善航线网络,每周近百条航线通达全球,也是华南地区美线最密集的港区,平均每天有6班去美国,跨境电商海运快线多达十余条。5月14日,从盐田港发往美国的国际货轮均满载出发。
业内人士分析,前段时间美国实行的高关税政策,致使许多船公司减少了对中国港口的挂靠,还有些船公司将船投入到东南亚和欧洲航线,目前到美国的运力相对紧张。接下来,将有许多卖家大批量出货。前期舱位的受限,接下来将导致卖家对于舱位的需求激增,加之7月份是亚马逊的会员日,可能会出现“抢运潮”。
盐田港位于深圳东部大鹏湾北岸,是全球最大单体集装箱码头之一、全球超大型船舶首选港之一。作为全球生产链供应链的一个重要节点,深圳盐田港区承担着广东省超三分之一的外贸进出口量、全国对美出口逾四分之一的货量。
