How will Guangdong, an economic powerhouse, take the lead in major infrastructure projects in 2025? On March 14th, the first steel beam of the Shiziyang Bridge, the world's tallest double-decker suspension bridge, was successfully installed. This breakthrough marks a major step forward in the Shiziyang Channel Project, injecting strong momentum into the infrastructure connectivity of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The Shiziyang Channel is a massive cross-sea, multi-layer highway project connecting the east and west banks of the Pearl River. Spanning approximately 35 kilometers, the route starts from Dagang Town in Guangzhou's Nansha District and ends in Humen Town, Dongguan. As the key control project, the Shiziyang Bridge adopts a single-span, double-decker steel truss suspension bridge design, setting five world records upon completion—for main span length, main tower height, anchor foundation size, main cable scale, and number of lanes.

With a main span of 2,180 meters, the bridge's gate-shaped main tower stands 342 meters tall, equivalent to a 110-story building, making it the world's tallest main tower for a double-decker suspension bridge. The first steel beam, known as the "shoulders" of the bridge, supports both the deck and the vehicles. Weighing over 1,200 tons and composed of seven segments, it is the heaviest beam of the entire bridge. "The main towers of the Shiziyang Bridge must withstand an immense pressure of over 200,000 tons," explained Zhang Taike, chief engineer of the project.

According to the latest construction plan, the project aims to exceed 200 meters in tower height and complete 70% of the anchorage foundation construction by the end of this year.

狮子洋上,世界最高双层悬索桥“挺起肩膀”

在经济大省广东,2025年大项目如何挑大梁?3月14日,世界最高双层悬索桥——狮子洋大桥首道钢横梁成功架设。这一关键节点的突破,标志着狮子洋通道项目建设取得重大进展,为粤港澳大湾区基础设施“硬联通”注入强大动力。

狮子洋通道是连接珠江东西两岸的超大型跨海多层复合公路通道工程,起于广州市南沙区大岗镇,终于东莞市虎门镇,路线全长约35公里。作为项目的关键控制性工程,狮子洋大桥采用双层钢桁悬索桥方案“一跨过江”,建成后将创造双层悬索桥“主跨跨径、主塔塔高、锚碇基础、主缆规模、车道数量”5项世界第一。

狮子洋大桥主跨长2180米,主塔为门塔式结构,高342米,相当于110层楼高,是世界最高的双层悬索桥主塔。首道钢横梁则是大桥的“肩膀”,支撑起桥面和未来过往车辆的重量,重超1200吨,由7个节段组成,也是全桥最重的横梁。“狮子洋大桥主塔需要承担超20万吨的巨大压力。”狮子洋通道项目总工程师张太科介绍道。

据介绍,该项目今年将实现狮子洋大桥主塔塔高突破200米、锚碇完成锚体施工70%的建设目标。
