The "Intangible Cultural Heritage Market" seamlessly blends with the flea market, while Cantonese-speaking storytellers communicate effortlessly with foreign friends. On the evening of December 14th, the 2nd Clifford Estates International Neighborhood Festival was held in Guangzhou. Through a variety of cultural and artistic activities, including performances, cultural experiences, and a charity market, the event fosters exchange and integration among international families, showcasing the vitality and charm of the internationalized neighborhoods in Guangzhou.

Music is a bridge that connects different cultures and generations. The AYST band performed classic songs from both China and abroad, while the student band from the International Department of Clifford School also took the stage, bringing youthful energy. The event also invited Cantonese storyteller Lin Jin to share "Stories of Zhong Village," allowing the audience to experience the rich heritage of Cantonese culture and the unique charm of the Cantonese language.

The stage featured a series of wonderful performances, while the market area was equally bustling with activity. At the flea market, residents of Clifford Estates displayed diplomatic seals from state visits, offering a glimpse into historical moments of friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries. Foreign neighbors showcased handmade Elizabethan-era costumes, highlighting the beauty of clothing from different cultural backgrounds.

Clifford Estates is a highly diverse and inclusive, large-scale mixed community that is home to over 4,400 foreign residents from 93 countries. It is one of the 12 internationalized neighborhood pilot areas strongly supported by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality.

In 2022, Guangzhou announced that during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), it would select 10 to 15 neighborhoods as pilot areas for internationalization, aiming to transform these neighborhoods into key hubs for international exchange. The goal is to create urban public spaces and communities that foster social interaction. In 2024, Guangzhou rose to 22nd place in the GaWC World Cities Ranking.

International
