Guangdong's manufacturing industry is transitioning from traditional methods to cutting-edge technologies, empowering new drivers of growth through "intelligent manufacturing." As a national leader in the industry, Guangdong encompasses all 31 major manufacturing sectors and is fostering new growth points in fields such as artificial intelligence, advanced energy storage, and commercial aviation. The province is also targeting emerging industries like electronic information, intelligent equipment, and life sciences.

Zou Yongbing, chief economist at the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, highlighted significant achievements. Last year, Guangdong's new energy vehicle (NEV) production accounted for one-quarter of the national total, while strategic emerging industry clusters such as semiconductors and advanced new materials recorded value-added growth exceeding 10%, marking substantial progress in industrial upgrading. In Dongguan's Songshan Lake, Ramaxel, a leader in China's memory market, is at the forefront of innovation. Company representative Jia Zongming explained that the firm is shifting focus from manufacturing to research and development(R&D), enhancing competitiveness through intelligent transformation. "With 5G networks, we have achieved full connectivity in our production processes, enabling real-time monitoring and risk prediction," Jia noted.

Guangzhou-based WeRide, a pioneer in autonomous driving, is also drawing attention. Founder Han Xu revealed that the company has expanded its research and operations to 30 cities across seven countries, including the USA and the UAE, obtaining local licenses. Han emphasized that Guangzhou's inclusiveness and business-friendly environment are critical factors in attracting enterprises.

Meanwhile, Guangdong's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are emerging as global "little giants." Wu Yanguang, founder of Dongguan-based Raetts Intelligent Equipment, shared how his company broke the foreign monopoly on maglev turbo blowers by achieving technological breakthroughs. "We've reduced product costs from 80,000 yuan to 2,000 yuan," Wu stated. "Our air-bearing turbo blowersthat are more efficient and energy-saving can cut carbon emissions by about 480 tons annually. We have established a subsidiary in Germany and are preparing for a public listing.”

In the biopharmaceutical sector, Guangzhou's Bio-Thera Solutions is expanding its global footprint. General Manager Li Shengfeng reported that the company has launched four products and established partnerships in 92 countries. "The R&D cycle is lengthy, but our goal is to collaborate with leading international enterprises to ensure our drugs reach patients worldwide as quickly as possible," Li emphasized.
