Even today, in Huangpu Village in Guangzhou, villagers still cherish a truly remarkable love story, set against the backdrop of a unique and ancient structure - the Lvri Overseas Chinese Building.

According to legend, the Lvri Overseas Chinese Building, also known as the "Japanese Building", dates back to the late Qing Dynasty. During his studies in Japan, Feng Zuoping, a local villager of Huangpu Village in Guangzhou, encountered a Japanese girl named Hirahara Aiko. After their marriage, they returned to Guangzhou together. To alleviate his wife's homesickness, Feng Zuoping deliberately constructed a Western-style building with Japanese influences. It is said that during the resistance against Japanese aggression, Japanese soldiers once infiltrated Huangpu Village. Hirahara Aiko bravely brandished a samurai sword, which she had brought as her dowry, successfully repelling the invaders and saving Huangpu Village.
