BRICS leaders agreed on August 24 to invite six countries, namely Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to join the group.

BRICS expansion marks new starting point for cooperation, and raises the voice of the Global South with regard to the various issues and development challenges in order to promote the developing countries' rights and interests.
