From July 4th to 6th, the Pearl River in Guangzhou may witness the largest and highest astronomical tide of 2023.
Astronomical tides refer to the tides during the maximum combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun when there is a new moon or full moon. Due to the lag effect of the ocean, astronomical tides usually occur around the second and third days and the seventeenth and eighteenth days of the lunar calendar in China.
On July 4th, reporters of Yangcheng Evening News came to the Zhujiang Ganliu Plaza (Pearl River Mainstream Plaza) on Linjiang Avenue, where many neighbors had brought their children to play in the water on the waterfront, enjoying a happy moment.
