Recently, the new Cantonese opera "Legend of White Snake: Love", performed by the national first-class actors Zeng Xiaomin, also the winner of the Wenhua Award and the Plum Performance Award, and Wen Ruqing, was staged at the Qiaodu Theater of Jiangmen Performing Arts Center, at the special invitation of the Jiangmen Cantonese Opera Training Institute. The opera was based on the ancient Chinese folklore "Madame White Snake", telling a love story between the lady Bai Suzhen and the man Xu Xian.

"Since its premiere in 2014, the Cantonese opera'Legend of White Snake: Love' has been put on the stage for more than 100 times, winning us a large number of fans and great support; while its movie version has swept more than a dozen domestic and foreign film awards and smashed the box office record of Chinese opera films, attracting many young people to notice, get to know and fall in love with Cantonese opera. It is through countless polishings that the Cantonese opera 'Legend of White Snake: Love' can have such achievements today." said the lead actress, Zeng Xiaomin.

On the night of the performance, fans from around China gathered in the Qiaodu Theater of Jiangmen Performing Arts Center for the opera. At the climax of the story, the performers' sincere and attractive interpretation of the characters was met with cheers and thunderous applause. "Cantonese opera serves as a shining name card of Guangdong, so we have to be culturally confident and keep up with the times." said Mr. Li, an opera fan from the Enping City of Jiangmen, "Hopefully, more wonderful operas can hit the stage in our hometown.It is also expected that the Cantonese opera culture can sweep across the region."

"The special performance of the 'Legend of White Snake: Love' this time aims to promote our splendid traditional culture, and to enrich the spiritual and cultural lives of the people through high-quality operas." said Li Zhiping, director of the Jiangmen Cantonese Opera Training Institute, "Also, all the cast and staff of our Institute have learned a lot during the exchanges and communications with our brother troupes, which has improved their appreciation ability and broadened their horizons, enabling them to see more possibilities of the art of opera on the stage, and to have new ideas for the creation, rehearsal and performance in the future."

新编粤剧《白蛇传·情》江门上演

日前，江门市粤剧传习所特邀由国家一级演员、文华表演奖、中国戏剧梅花奖获得者曾小敏，国家一级演员文汝清等，在江门演艺中心侨都大剧院演出新编粤剧《白蛇传·情》。据介绍，《白蛇传·情》取材于中国古代民间传说“白蛇传”，讲述白素贞与许仙之间的爱情故事。

主演曾小敏表示：“粤剧《白蛇传·情》从2014年创排、首演至今，演出已超过了100场，得到大家的支持，收获了大批粉丝。而粤剧电影《白蛇传·情》，一举拿下国内外十多个电影奖项，打破了中国戏曲类电影票房记录，吸引了很多年轻人关注粤剧、了解粤剧并喜欢上粤剧，经过不断的打磨，粤剧《白蛇传·情》才有今日的成绩。”

演出当晚，来自江门五邑及全国各地的戏迷、观众前往江门演艺中心侨都大剧院观看。不少人被演员们的倾情演绎深深吸引，精彩之处，掌声雷鸣、欢呼不已。来自江门恩平的戏迷李先生表示：“粤剧是我们广东一张亮丽的名片，我们要坚定文化自信，紧跟时代的脚步，希望有更多精彩的剧目在五邑侨乡上演，也期待粤剧文化能传遍侨乡。”

江门市粤剧传习所负责人李智平表示：“本次特邀《白蛇传·情》演出，旨在弘扬优秀传统文化，让高质量的戏曲作品丰富群众的精神文化生活，同时，江门市粤剧传习所全体演职员也通过兄弟团体交流学习，受益匪浅，从各专业视角提升了大家的鉴赏水平及思维眼界，看到戏曲艺术在舞台上更多的可能性，为今后创、排、演工作提供新思路。”
