Guangzhou's Nansha district is gearing up to host the highly anticipated Greater-bay Science Forum from May 20th to 23rd. This year's forum, themed "Bring Together Wisdom, Bring Together the World", promises to be a premier scientific event, featuring a grand assembly and 15 specialized sub-forums. The organizing committee has extended invitations to globally renowned scientists, including Nobel laureates and recipients of similar prestigious international awards, to showcase the latest advancements in establishing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as an international hub for technological innovation and highlight the cutting-edge achievements in scientific innovation in Guangdong.

Keynote speeches by Nobel laureates

As of May 15th, the event has confirmed the participation of five Nobel laureates and laureates of equivalent international awards, with three attending in person and two joining online. Additionally, nearly one hundred academicians from both domestic and international institutions, nearly 30 representatives from international organizations and associations, and over 200 representatives from academic institutions worldwide will be in attendance.

Among the notable speakers headlining the main assembly are Ding Zhaozhong, foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nobel laureate in Physics (1976), Michael Levitt, Nobel laureate in Chemistry (2013), Professor Daniel Kammen, who contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report honored with the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize; academician Nancy Yuk-Yu, recipient of the L’OREAL-UNESCO for Women in Science Award, academician Gao Wen, winner of the National Technology Innovation Awards, academician Teng Jinguang, recipient of the State Natural Science Award, and academician Zhang Suojiang, awardee of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World Prize in Chemistry.

Moreover, the forum aims to foster deeper scientific exchanges and collaborations between scientists, research institutions, schools, and students within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In this regard, immersive experiences have been arranged for volunteers from esteemed institutions such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and Guangzhou Foreign Language School in Nansha, serving as bridges for communication among scientists, research institutes, and educational institutions.

Major research achievements of the Belt and Road Initiative

This year marks the ten-year anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. This year's forum will include a dedicated sub-forum on the high-quality development of the initiative. From a comprehensive and multidimensional perspective, the sub-forum will explore the opportunities and challenges for the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative in the new era. It will also present the significant research findings from the report titled High-Quality Development of the Belt and Road Initiative: Technological Innovation and Cooperation.

The report focuses on four major areas: health, green development, digital innovation, and innovation-driven development. It systematically examines the new situations, opportunities, problems, and challenges in the field of technological innovation and cooperation, providing scientific solutions to meet the needs of strengthening national strategic scientific and technological capabilities, and promoting innovation-driven development.

大湾区科学论坛5月20日至23日在南沙举行，多位诺奖得主将参会

2023年大湾区科学论坛将于5月20日至23日在广州南沙举行。本届论坛以“智汇湾区，湾和世界”为主题，将设置一场高规格的全体大会和15场分论坛，并邀请包括诺奖及同级别国际奖项获得者在内的全球顶尖科学家参加，向全世界展现粤港澳大湾区国际科技创新中心建设的最新进展和广东科技创新的最新成果。

诺奖得主将参会并发表主旨报告

据介绍，截至5月15日，本届论坛邀请到诺奖及同级别国际奖项获得者5人（线下3人，线上2人），海内外院士近百人，国际组织、协会代表近30人，国内外学术机构代表200余人。

其中，主论坛邀请到中国科学院外籍院士、1976年诺贝尔物理学奖得主丁肇中，2013年诺贝尔化学奖得主迈克尔·莱维特（Michael Levitt），对获得2007年诺贝尔和平奖的IPCC报告作出贡献者、加州伯克利大学分校教授丹尼尔·科曼（Daniel Kammen），世界杰出女科学家成就奖获得者叶玉如院士，国家技术发明奖一等奖获得者高文院士，国家自然科学奖获得者滕锦光院士，发展中国家科学院化学奖获得者张锁江院士等多位嘉宾线下参会并发表主旨报告。

据悉，本届论坛还将吸引香港科技大学（广州）等高校、南沙区广州外国语学校学生志愿者等深度体验，搭建起科学家、科研院所与粤港澳大湾区内学校、学生之间沟通的桥梁，进一步深化粤港澳科技交流合作。

聚焦“一带一路”发布重大研究成果

今年正值共建“一带一路”倡议提出十周年，本届论坛设置“一带一路”高质量发展分论坛，全方位、多视角探索新形势下“一带一路”高质量发展面临的机遇和挑战，并将发布重大研究成果《“一带一路”高质量发展报告——科技创新与科技合作》。

报告聚焦健康、绿色、数字和创新发展四大领域，围绕科技创新与科技创新合作，系统梳理新形势、新机遇、新问题和新挑战，结合强化国家战略科技力量的需求和创新驱动发展战略，给出科学解决方案。
