On the evening of May 13th, the grand musical and dance epic "Lift Your Veil - Xinjiang is a Good Place" was performed at the Guangzhou Grand Theatre. This show marked the final stop of the national tournament performance.

Fourteen performances showcase the beauty of Xinjiang

"Lift Your Veil - Xinjiang is a Good Place" is jointly performed by various professional groups of Xinjiang Art Theater, Changji Prefecture Art Theater, and other professional groups from various regions in Xinjiang. The performance vividly showcases the tremendous achievements in various economic and social endeavors made in Xinjiang in recent years, expressing sincere gratitude for the assistance work in Xinjiang. The show premiered at the Urumqi Grand Theater in July 2022 and has been well received by all.

The performance lineup for this Guangzhou stop includes a range of classic Xinjiang folk songs, ethnic dances, Uyghur Muqam, epic chanting, ethnic instrumental performances, and the latest artistic achievements such as musical short plays. Notable examples include the song and dance performance "Lift Your Veil", the dance "Qiuci Music and Dancing", the epic chanting of "Manas" (excerpt), the ethnic instrumental performance "Joyful Prairie", China's Uyghur Muqam "Jula" (excerpt), the medley of songs "Charm of Xinjiang", the musical short play "Border Defender", the drum dance "Picking Grapes", and the Laipaer performance "Songs on the New Silk Road".

The performance was presented by the Xinjiang Art Theater, which was established in 2009 and is the only autonomous regional-level artistic performance group in Xinjiang. According to the organizers, this tour broke new ground in form, with the entire show electrified by modern popular performing language. Through the combination of dance, vocal music, drama, and epic chanting, as well as live accompaniment by a local band, the original expression and formidable artistic prowess of Xinjiang's music, dance, and music are maximally showcased.

Jiyue performers singing and dancing in "caves"

This play showcases the colorful and magnificent regional cultural features of Xinjiang, while also selecting representative elements of China's outstanding traditional culture to display the warmth and hospitality of the various ethnic groups in Xinjiang and the changes and development of ancient and modern Silk Road cultures. It vividly depicts the interaction, communication, and integration among the various ethnic groups in Xinjiang, presenting a magnificent picture of the rapid development of contemporary Xinjiang.

As the performance began, the first climax soon arose, evoking heartfelt admiration from the entire audience: "Witnessing for the first time the legendary figures such as Jiyue (fairies with musical instruments) in the heavenly palace and flying Jiyue standing atop the millennial Qiuci Grottoes while seeing them singing and dancing to their melodies was a truly awe-inspiring experience." Eleven actors, portraying Jiyue musicians, stood in three tiers inside the virtual "cave", moving gracefully in unison or dancing individually like celestial beings.

"The convergence of tangible and intangible cultural heritage is a prominent feature of this performance," said Xing Shimiao, the chief director. In the classic excerptof Muqam (a musical form, popular in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) called "Jula", 19 young women embody a bold and unrestrained yet delicate and mature feminine portrait. The Kizil Cave murals come alive through the expressive language of dance in "Qiuci Music and Dancing".

大型音舞诗画在穗上演，浓郁“新疆风”扑面而来

5月13日晚，大型音舞诗画《掀起你的盖头来——新疆是个好地方》在广州大剧院上演。此次广州站的演出，是该剧本轮全国巡演的最后一站。

《掀起你的盖头来——新疆是个好地方》由新疆艺术剧院各专业院团、新疆昌吉州艺术剧院及新疆各地州其他专业院团联袂演出，生动展现近年来新疆经济社会各项事业取得的巨大成就，由衷表达对援疆工作的感激之情。该剧于2022年7月在乌鲁木齐大剧院首演，受到各方好评。

本次广州站的演出剧目囊括了新疆地方经典民族歌曲、民族舞蹈，新疆维吾尔木卡姆，民族史诗吟唱，民族器乐演奏，也融合了音乐短剧等最新艺术成果。例如，歌舞《掀起你的盖头来》、舞蹈《龟兹乐舞》、史诗吟唱《玛纳斯》（片段）、民族器乐演奏《欢乐草原》、中国新疆维吾尔木卡姆《朱拉》（片段）、歌曲联唱《魅力新疆》、音乐短剧《护边员》、鼓·舞《摘葡萄》、莱帕尔表演唱《新丝路上的歌声》。

剧目由新疆艺术剧院出演，该剧院成立于2009年，是新疆唯一的自治区级文艺表演团体。演出方介绍，本次巡演在形式上大有突破，全场去电音化，用当代流行的演艺语言，把舞蹈、声乐、戏剧、史诗吟唱全过程和现场乐队伴奏结合在一起，最大限度地展示了新疆歌、舞、乐原本的表现形态和强大的艺术实力。

天宫伎乐在“洞窟”载歌载舞

这台剧目在展示新疆多彩瑰丽的地域文化特色的同时，还选取具有代表性的中华优秀传统文化元素，展现新疆各族儿女的热情好客，以及古今丝路文化的变迁和发展。同时呈现新疆各民族之间交往交流交融的生动景象，展现了当代新疆跨越式发展的瑰丽图景。

“第一次亲眼看到天宫伎乐、飞天伎乐这些传说里的形象，站在有着千年历史的龟兹石窟上载歌载舞，太震撼了。”演出开场不久，第一个高潮就引发全体观众由衷赞叹。11位演员扮演的伎乐分三层站在虚拟化的“洞窟”中，或整齐划一，或各自起舞，翩翩如仙。

“物质和非物质文化遗产荟萃，是这台演出的一大特点。”演出总导演邢时苗介绍，中国新疆维吾尔木卡姆经典片段《朱拉》中，19位姑娘塑造了大胆奔放又不失细腻的成熟女子群像。《龟兹乐舞》让克孜尔石窟壁画通过舞蹈语言展现给观众。(更多新闻资讯，请关注羊城派 pai.ycwb.com)
