An image of a glossy ibis, a rare bird once thought extinct in China, has recently been captured by an amateur bird photographer in Li Village, Xiegang Town, Dongguan.
The endangered glossy ibis, known as the “ Panda among Birds”, is the national first-class protected animal. The color of its plumage changes with the angle of light, hence the name “glossy ibis”.
According to the president of the Dongguan Bird Watching Association, the glossy ibis sighted in Li Village, Xiegang Town is a passing bird on its way to migration. For the perfect food and environment here, the bird stayed briefly to replenish its strength before migrating again.
