At the 133rd China Import and Export Fair (also known as the Canton Fair) on April 15th, the phrase "Sorry, I am busy now!" was the most common response that reporters from the Yangcheng Evening News received when interviewing foreign businessmen. With a wave of their hand and a quick pace, the businessmen rushed off after giving a friendly reply.
But why such a strange reaction? Are foreign buyers really that aloof? Following their footsteps, the reporters discovered that their destination was the various booths at the Canton Fair.
"I'm sorry, I have an appointment with a partner and I need to go meet them. If there's a chance in the next few days, I can give you an interview then. Thank you." One hurried foreign buyer politely declined the interview. Before the reporters could even ask for their names, they had disappeared into the sea of people at the fair.
On the main road of the Canton Fair, countless foreign buyers walked past the reporters at a brisk pace, studying the fair map in their hands. They politely declined interviews with a wave of their hand, as the map in their hands looked more like a treasure map, leaving no time for delay in their search for products.
"I'm from Canada and I'm here to look for high-tech products. Time is money, so I'm sorry I can't say more." After saying a short sentence, the buyer from Canada hurried off to the booth of Hongwei Technology, examining the multifunctional bathroom mirror and cabinet products on display and discussing the details of cooperation with the booth staff.
The Haier booth showcased a range of smart home products, including wine coolers and ovens, all integrated into real-life scenarios, attracting the attention of a Turkish buyer. Working for a Turkish air conditioning manufacturer and distributor, he was chosen by his boss to attend the Canton Fair for more than a decade due to his fluent Chinese. His company's annual purchase volume from Haier alone reaches millions of dollars.
"The home appliances made in China are so cool. I need to take a closer look!" The Turkish buyer sat in the smart living room, experiencing the cutting-edge technology of various devices interconnected in the intelligent scenario and marveling at it.
These foreign visitors, while uttering brief sentences, were eager to explore business opportunities at the Canton Fair. On the second day of the exhibition, an Indian client signed an order worth millions of dollars with Tiger Head Battery.
In this late spring, foreign visitors from all over the world, who had not visited Guangzhou for a long time, once again set foot on this land of flowers. In addition to the blooming flowers in the city, they saw endless opportunities at the Canton Fair.
Renowned as "China's No.1 exhibition", the on-site Canton Fair has been fully resumed after the government implemented the Class B pandemic prevention and control policy. Foreign visitors believed that the Canton Fair has brought unlimited business opportunities to the world. Supported by China's opening-up policy, the "Made in China" products, with complete categories and excellent quality and low prices, still have unlimited appeal to international buyers.
Foreign merchants had no time to answer the journalist's questions because they were rushing to chase after their golden opportunities.
广交会上外商们为何婉拒采访?
“Sorry,I am busy now!(抱歉,我现在很忙!)”这是羊城晚报记者4月15日在第133届中国进出口商品交易会(以下简称“广交会”)现场采访外商时收到最多的答复。摆摆手,快步前行,是他们在给出友好回答后的反应。
为何如此奇怪?外国采购商们真的如此高冷吗?追随着他们的步伐,记者发现,他们快步流星的终点,是一个个广交会上的展位。
“非常抱歉,我跟合作伙伴约好了,赶着去跟他们见面。如果未来几天有机会,再接受你的采访,谢谢。”一个步履匆匆的外国采购商礼貌拒绝了记者采访。记者还没来得及询问他的名字,他已消失在展馆的人海中。
走在广交会展馆的主道上,数不清的外商一边认真看着展馆路线图,一边快步从记者身旁走过,摆手婉拒采访。他们手中的路线图,更像是一张藏宝图,寻宝的路上不容得一丝耽搁。
“我来自加拿大,我这次要来寻找有科技含量的产品,我的时间就是金钱,所以很抱歉不能多说了。”向记者抛下短短一句话之后,来自加拿大的伊坦匆匆赶往了佛山虹维科技的展位,急不可耐地考察现场展示的多功能浴室镜、镜柜等产品,与展位工作人员洽谈合作细节。
在海尔展位上,酒柜、烤箱等各式智家产品都融入了生活场景中,这吸引了来自土耳其的采购商亚古伯。亚古伯是土耳其一家空调制造及分销商的员工,因为能说一口流利的中文,所以连续十多年被老板钦点前来参加广交会,仅在海尔每年的采购额就达到百万级别。
“现在中国的家电太酷了,我要赶紧多看看!”亚古伯坐在智慧客厅的场景里,体验着智慧场景中各式设备互联互通的“黑科技”,感慨不已。
这些外商们,一边撂下简短的几句话,一边迫不及待地在广交会展馆中寻觅商机,奔赴各个展位开启了他们的“掘金”之旅——逛展第二天,一名来自印度的客商就与虎头电池签下了上百万美元的订单。
在这个暮春时节,来自世界各地许久未见的外商们再次踏上了花城这片土地,映入他们眼帘的,除了满城的繁花,还有广交会遍布的商机。
对于中国疫情防控实施“乙类乙管”政策后全面恢复的“中国第一展”,外商们用他们的争分夺秒给出了回答——广交会的全面线下举办给世界带来了无限商机,透过中国的对外开放之门,品类齐全、物美价廉的“中国制造”对国际客商们来说依然有着无限吸引力。
他们无暇顾及记者的发问,因为他们匆匆步履奔赴的,是万两黄金。
