On April 12th, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, inspected the city of Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.Xi went to LG Display's manufacturing base in Guangzhou and GAC Aion New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd., where he learned about local efforts to promote high-standard opening up and the high-quality development of the manufacturing sector, and about how enterprises are boosting innovation and building self-owned brands.

LG Display is the world's leading innovator of display technologies, belonging to the LG Corporation. In August 2019, LG Display's Guangzhou OLED panel production plant, with a total investment of about 46 billion yuan, was completed and put into operation, attracting widespread attention. It is one of the largest foreign investment projects in Guangzhou. The plant is LG Display's first large-size OLED panel production line established outside of Korea, and also the first 8.5th generation OLED panel production line in China, strongly driving the upstream and downstream industries.

In order to let LGDisplay develop in Guangzhou without worries, the Guangzhou government has made every effort to ensure the construction of the plant, which only took two years to complete and put into operation. Since 2020, Guangzhou has organized and approved 30 charter flights, helping 5,145 LG Display's core technical personnel to China for equipment debugging and maintenance, ensuring the timely mass production and delivery of the OLED panel production line. These efforts have enhanced LGDisplay's trust in investing in Guangzhou.

Nowadays, a world-class industry base for flat panel display with the whole industrial chain has emerged around LG Display. The company is surrounded by more than 30 upstream firms, including Nippon Electric Glass, Ltd. and Daesung Industrial Gases, which help Guangzhou become the world' s capital of the display industry.

According to a report released by CCID Consulting, Guangzhou ranks first among the 2022 top 10 cities in the new display industry. To be more specific, Guangzhou has become the city with four types of display technology production lines after strategic emerging industries’ projects put into operation, such as LG Display's 8.5th generation OLED project, Sakai Display Product's 10.5th generation TFT-LCD display production line project, Visionox's 6th generation flexible AMOLED module production line project, and TCL CSOT's T9 project.

In brief, with years of effort to become the world's capital of the display industry, Guangzhou has developed its ultra-high-definition video industry and the new display industry to be its key hundred-billion-level industries as well as a symbol of high-quality development, which contributes to Guangzhou's increasing global publicity.

广州：打造显示之都，提升城市显示度

4月12日，习近平总书记在广东省广州市先后考察了乐金显示广州制造基地、广汽埃安新能源汽车股份有限公司，了解当地推进高水平对外开放、推动制造业高质量发展，以及企业推进科技创新、打造自主品牌等情况，并同企业代表、科研人员、一线职工等交流。

乐金显示是一家全球领先的显示技术创新公司，隶属LG集团。2019年8月，总投资约460亿元的乐金显示广州OLED项目建成投产，吸引了社会的广泛关注，这是广州市最大的外商投资项目之一。这是LG Display在韩国本土外建立的首条大尺寸OLED面板生产线，也是国内首条高世代OLED面板生产线，对上下游产业具有强大的拉动作用。

为了让企业安心扎根发展，广州全力保障项目建设，建设完工投产仅花了两年时间。2020年以来，为使项目量产计划正常推进，广州还先后组织协调审批30架次包机，解决乐金显示广州OLED项目核心技术人员5145人次来华支援设备调试和维护难题，确保其OLED 项目生产线量产出货。系列举措，坚定了外商投资的信心。

如今，环绕着乐金显示，一个基本具备全产业链的世界级平板显示产业基地崛起，该企业周边拥有包括电气硝子玻璃面板厂、大成特殊气体厂等在内的30多家配套厂商，助力广州打造“世界显示之都”。

根据赛迪顾问发布的一份研究报告显示，广州位列“2022年新型显示十大城市”之首。其中，乐金显示8.5代OLED项目、超视堺10.5代TFT-LCD显示器生产线项目、维信诺第6代柔性AMOLED模组生产线项目、TCL华星t9项目等战略性新兴产业项目陆续建设和投产，让广州成为拥有四种显示技术类型产线的城市。

广州提出打造“世界显示之都”的目标，经过多年深耕，超高清视频和新型显示成为广州重点打造的千亿级产业和制造业高质量发展的“新名片”，广州的全球“显示度”也在不断提高。
