On March 28, the launch ceremony of "Invest in China Year" was held in Guangzhou, Guangdong, which is known as the "Southern Gate" of China. The event reflects that the central government attaches great importance to Guangdong, the largest hub of foreign investment.
Guangdong has become the first choice for many foreign companies to invest in China
Guangdong serves as a major platform for introducing the achievements of China's reform and opening-up to the rest of the world, and for the international community to observe China's reform and opening-up. In 2021, Guangdong became the first Chinese province with a GDP of over 12 trillion yuan. Its imports and exports exceeded 8 trillion yuan for the first time, ranking first among Chinese provinces and cities for 36 consecutive years. In addition, the foreign investment in actual use surpassed 180 billion yuan. Supported by a complete industrial system, strong innovation capabilities, and a sound business environment, the province enjoys a market dividend generated by over 15 million market entities, 70 million workers, and 127 million permanent residents.
Guangdong continues to boost foreign investors'confidence in the province
The commercial culture of Guangdong, which is business-oriented, pro-business, and business-friendly, has been kept furthering the opening-up of the province.
According to Measures to Attract Foreign Investment in Guangdong, the province will put more effort into attracting investment in 20 strategic industries, such as the new generation of electronic information, green petrochemicals, and advanced materials. Guangdong will also issue supporting policies with regard to capital, land, energy consumption, electricity, labor, and other aspects.
China's first local regulations on the protection of the rights and interests of foreign investors, Regulations on Protection of Rights and Interests of Foreign Investors in Guangdong Province, had come into force. It will provide the legal basis for Guangdong's continued expansion in opening-up and promote high-quality economic development.
The win-win cooperation between foreign-invested enterprises and Guangdong enterprises has promoted the development of upstream and downstream enterprises of the industry chain, enhanced the synergy of global industrial chains and supply chains, and facilitated the high-quality development of Guangdong's open economy.
