O Túnel Sul de Chebei em Guangzhou, que levou cinco anos a ser construído, foi oficialmente aberto ao tráfego na noite de 18 de Janeiro.

Às 21:15 horas, dezenas de veículos já tinham feito fila na entrada do túnel. Entretanto, uma grande multidão também se reuniu e aguardava o momento auspicioso da abertura do túnel. Nove minutos depois, o primeiro carro entrou lentamente no Túnel Sul de Chebei. Anteriormente, demorava cerca de 20 minutos a meia hora a conduzir de Pazhou até à zona da Cidade Financeira Internacional de Guangzhou, principalmente através da Ponte de Pazhou ou da Ponte Dongpu Grand. Mas como o Chebei South Tunnel abriu, o tempo de viagem pode ser grandemente reduzido para apenas dois a cinco minutos. A Cidade Financeira e Pazhou também foram ligadas entre si!

历时五年建设的广州车陂南隧道于1月18日晚正式通车。记者21时15分到达车陂南隧道位于天河区的入口处，已有十余辆车排队等待通车，不少市民也在附近围观等待。21时24分，第一辆小车缓缓驶入车陂南隧道。目前，从琶洲片区到金融城片区，主要通过琶洲大桥和东圃特大桥过江，大约需20分钟至半小时。隧道开通后，金融城可直达琶洲，行车时间可以缩短至2—5分钟。
