It’s a ritual for Chinese people to play mahjong with families and friends during Chinese New Year. A set of Liu Bo Chess, which can be known as ancient mahjong, is now exhibited at Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou. The chess was unearthed from the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, who died more than 2000 years ago. It consists of 12 chess pieces, made of jade and crystal. The game was popular during Qin and Han dynasty, but unfortunately, we cannot know how to play it because of limited archaeological materials.
