历时五年建设的广州车陂南隧道于1月18日晚正式通车。记者21时15分到达车陂南隧道位于天河区的入口处，已有十余辆车排队等待通车，不少市民也在附近围观等待。21时24分，第一辆小车缓缓驶入车陂南隧道。目前，从琶洲片区到金融城片区，主要通过琶洲大桥和东圃特大桥过江，大约需20分钟至半小时。隧道开通后，金融城可直达琶洲，行车时间可以缩短至2—5分钟。
