Nanshe of Dongguan is a rare ancient village of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the Lingnan region. It has won 13 national and 15 provincial honorary titles, such as "China's Historic and Cultural Villages" and "Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level". In the ancient village, the layout of residential houses, ancestral halls, academies, family temples, banyan trees, pavilions, archways, and so on are orderly distributed, forming a unique landscape of farming civilization, with distinctive Guang Fu(Cantonese) cultural characteristics in Lingnan region.
Most of the dwellings were built along both sides of the pond, taking advantage of the natural hills. Carved red stone door frames and green grinding brick walls are almost everywhere. Watching the fresh willows, small bridges, flowing water, and households, you can sense the ancient rhymes of the Ming and Qing dynasties and have a feeling of traveling through time and space.
