On the evening of November 3, Zhang Yi, the principal violinist of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra (GSO), gave his recital at the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou and presented a 90-minute musical feast.

This recital is one of the series of special performances presented by both art masters and new artists, which is being held by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. These performances are presented by Guangdong's art masters or young and middle-aged artists in opera, music, dance and other fields.
During the concert, Zhang Yi cooperated with Jing Huan, the permanent conductor of the GSO, presenting world-renowned music pieces including Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D Major, Antonio Vivaldi's Spring (of The Four Seasons), Ludwig van Beethoven's Romance for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 in F major, Op. 50, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Overture to La Clemenza di Tito as well as his Violin Concerto No. 3.
In addition, Chen Qing, the president of the GSO who used to be a principal oboe, played Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto for Oboe and Violin in C Minor with Zhang Yi as double soloists.

The GSO is the only Chinese orchestra to have toured five continents, and its fans might be familiar with Zhang Yi. He is the vice president of this orchestra, joining in 1900 and has been in GSO for more than 30 years. Zhang has never missed an overseas tour and participated in Guangzhou New Year Concert every year. He will continue to take up the position of concertmaster of GSO in the 30th Guangzhou New Year Concert in 2022.
