Representatives from 24 foreign Consulates General in Guangzhou visited Fushan Circular Economic Industrial Park in Huangpu district of Guangzhou on August 12th.
The Fushan Circular Economic Industrial Park is the largest circular economic industrial park with the most diverse functions in terms of garbage disposal in China. The staff members gave the Consular Corps an introduction to the volume of garbage disposal, electrical generating capacity and flue gas emission of Guangzhou Waste-to-energy Plant No.3 which is one of the largest waste incineration power plant in China. They also showed the development of the city’s household waste management technology and the recent technology of power generation from wast burning.
In 2019, Guangzhou won the C40 City Green Technology Awards. The Guangzhou Waste-to-energy Plant No.3 handles 12,600 tons of household waste per day and its annual on-grid energy can reach 540 million kwh which is equivalent to the annual power consumption of 200 thousand households. In addition, the Guangzhou Waste-to-energy Plant No.6 adopts a world’s leading technology to handle flue gas so that its emission index is lower than China’s GB 2014 as well as the EU Emission Standard 2010.
In line with China’s strategy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and achieve carbon neutrality, the visit aims to highlight Guangzhou’s achievements in green, low-carbon and circular development as well as share experience with its global counterparts.
The visit was organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, Guangzhou Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau with Guangzhou Environmental Protection Investment Group.
