Three newborn zebra sharks have been born in Zhuhai, Guangdong province. They are called zebra sharks because they have thick black and white stripes all over their body when they are young and brown spots like a leopard’s pattern when they grow up. Contrary to the public perception that sharks are fierce, zebra sharks are very docile and never attack people. However, zebra sharks have two problems, i.e. low fertilization rate and low hatching rate of fertilized eggs. The successful breeding of zebra sharks marks the maturity of zebra shark breeding technology of Chimelong, and is another milestone in the breeding of endangered marine animals.
三尾新生豹纹鲨在广东珠海诞生了。豹纹鲨幼崽浑身遍布粗大的黑白条纹，成年后，条纹变成如豹子花纹般的褐色斑点遍布全身，故称豹纹鲨。与公众认知鲨鱼生性凶猛不同，豹纹鲨性情十分温顺，从不主动攻击人。但豹纹鲨存在鲨鱼卵受精率低、受精卵孵化率低的双重难题。本次成功繁育出豹纹鲨，标志着长隆豹纹鲨繁育技术走向成熟，是濒危海洋动物繁育的又一里程碑。
