On May 22, Yuan Longping, the “father of hybrid rice” and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, passed away. With deep respect for him, Xu Hongfei, president of the Guangzhou Sculpture Academy, created the Yuan Longping statue.

The statue is created in the form of rare relief. Yuan Longping gazes kindly ahead, with a deep love for the land, and the ears of rice in front of his chest being blown by the wind. The farmland looming in the background shows his years of work in a poetic and realistic way.

5月22日，“杂交水稻之父”、中国工程院院士获得者袁隆平逝世。怀着对袁老的崇敬之心，广州雕塑院院长许鸿飞创作出了《袁隆平》雕像。雕塑以罕见的浮雕形式创作，袁隆平慈祥而深邃的目光注视前方，眼神饱含对土地的深情和挚爱，胸前风吹稻穗如诉如泣、如闻其声，背景中隐现的农田以诗意和写意的手法表现出袁老长年工作的场景。
