Guangzhou Metro to extend service during May Day Holiday

Guangzhou Metro released its train schedule for the May Day Holiday with more hours and “flexible” trains added.

Extend service hours

1.On April 30, May 1 and May 5

All metro lines will extend the service by 1 hour.

2.On May 4

Line 2 (from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Jiahewanggang) will provide night rail service and close 1 hour later. During the extended service hour, the trains will only stop at Luoxi, Changgang, Gongyuanqian, Guangzhou Railway Station and Jiahewanggang.

Ramp up transit service

It is estimated that the off-peak hours in most metro lines will begin at 13:00 on April 30. Guangzhou Metro said it will operate at higher capacity to address a possible increase in ridership driven by off-peak travel and passenger flow going out for tours.

Line 1, 4，14 and Guangzhou-Foshan Line will add trains during the peak hours. Another 30 trains will stand by for flexible use.

For a safe trip: be prepared for body temperature check and security check, wear masks throughout the journey. If the station is under passenger control, pay attention to station announcements and publicity notices, follow staff instructions and get on and off the trains in an orderly manner.
