30 China-Europe freight trains depart from the Greater Bay Area this year

The freight train (X9024) loaded with 50 containers carrying products for the Spring Festival and epidemic supplies left Guangzhou on February 6th. It is the 30th China-Europe freight train departing from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area this year.

The train is expected to arrive in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in 25 days, according to China Railway Guangzhou Group. It is also the 5th freight train in the Greater Bay Area for transporting epidemic supplies to meet the consumer demands along the railway.

Since earlier this year, the China-European freight train trips in the Greater Bay Area soared significantly, with 27 trains operating in January delivering 1,335 TEUs of products, that contains 13,000 tons supplies in total, up 285% year-on-year.

As the freight service to Europe is gaining popularity for exporting local products, the operator has applied to operate the service three times a week from Guangzhou, Dongguan, and two times a week from Shenzhen since the middle of January.

"During the Covid-19 pandemic, the increasing operation of the China-European freight train shows the confidence of people and foreign trade enterprises along the Belt and Road," said an official of the operator. The pandemic gives a chance to display the train’s advantages including punctuality, affordability and low risk of infection.
